Class 77: Take The Pressure Off With This Advice From Liz Gilbert

Hello Writer!

Hope your day is off to a good start. It is raining here in Vancouver (another atmospheric river is causing some major flooding) and you can hear some thick droplets landing against my windows in the background (sorry ‘bout that.)

Today’s writing exercise is inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s 2009

TED Talk: Your Elusive Creative Genius

Thinking about your creative genius, or the inspirational ideas that lead to your work, as something that exists outside of yourself rather than something that is generated from within you is a concept that rings true for many people. I think that embracing that idea can help take the pressure off.

Today’s writing exercise might help you circumvent perfectionism and imposter syndrome. Watch the class and give it a try! Let me know what you think in the comments.

Remember to Register Your 2025 Writing Year: Dream and Plan Webinar!

It’s a one-hour live and interactive planning session with me on Saturday December 28, so that you will begin 2025 with a solid writing goal in place and a plan for accomplishing your dream.

Share the Love

I’ve committed to keep making these videos for a year before deciding whether or not to continue. But they are time-consuming to make and post, so I have a paid-subscriber goal in mind that I would like to reach by next summer in order to keep going—just enough to pay for itself, really. My marketing budget is pretty small, so it would mean the world to me if you would share WWD with your circle of writers. Thank you!
