Class 80: Creating as an Act of Hope

Take a breath. Then, transition back into your good, good, good work.

Hi Writer

Woah. Tough week.

Depending on who you are, your current situation, or what you’ve been through in life, world events may be hitting harder or deeper, or affecting you in ways that you didn’t expect. Many of us needed to take a minute. Or two.

That’s okay.

Do what you need. Do the self-care.

But when you’re ready, one of the best and most helpful things you can do is to create something beautiful and good.

In today’s video I have a reading recommendation to hearten you. And then I have three reflection questions to reorient you toward the good future you believe in, and the good work that you have been given to do. And then, if you’re ready, I have 20 minutes of time carved out just for you and your writing.

My reading recommendation is actually a type of book, and there are many books that fall under that type. I mention a few well-known ones, but one you may not be familiar with is a trilogy collectively known as the Fionavar Tapestry. This omnibus contains all three books in one volume, but if you want to read the first book and go from there, it is called The Summer Tree.

Let’s move you back into creative growth. Get your humble notebook and pen ready, then hit play.

xoxo Danica
